Car Insurance.
Car insurance is a legal requirement and rightly so, the last thing anybody wants is to be hit by an uninsured
driver.
Learner drivers can have access to private practice and to do this they need to be insured, it is worth
considering car insurance can cost you more when you pass the driving test than it did when you were insured as
a learner.
Car insurance for learner and newly qualified drivers isn't cheap, however there are things you can do to
to reduce costs.
1. Consider Pass Plus when you pass the driving test.
Try this link for information on Pass Plus.
2. Shop around for car insurance.
Car insrurance does vary quite considerably from insurer to insurer and spending a little time either using
price comparison sites or phoning around a few insurance companies can save you a lot of money.
3. Consider the type of car you buy.
Buying a new car with a big powerful engine is going to cost you a lot more to insure than buying a
slightly older car with a smaller engine will cost you less to insure.
4. Paying for car insurance.
Don't pay for your car insurance in installments, paying for your insurance in one payment will save you what
could be a lot in interest on your insurance premium. I have seen people pay £1300 for car insurance
and some companies can charge as much as you %20 in interest which means you could pay an extra £260
in interest over the year.
